Story Behind The Song - Skinwalker Ranch

My introduction to Skinwalker Ranch was from the TV show only a few years ago. My girlfriend and I were looking for something scary to watch then stumbled upon this series about a unique piece of property in the Utah desert where weird things are studied.

If you have never watched the show, Skinwalker Ranch is a 500 acre property originally a part of the Navajo and Ute territories. It was later overseen by the US Government and is widely considered to be a nexus for paranormal research. The History Channel has put out several seasons where scientists and local professionals search, study and try to understand the odd phenomena that continue to happen there.

This turned out to be very inspirational for writing lyrics. The challenge I had was trying to figure out what genre would best describe and personify the weirdness of the ranch. After trying several genres I landed on musical theater. More specifically it is an overly enthusiastic teacher trying to explain the ranch to his students through singing. It is comical and insightful.

I've always been a sucker for cheap tires. In part because I'm a starving artist but also because riders tend to pay too much when it comes to upgrading their bikes. For example: How often have you seen a recreational rider purchase top of the line tires because they save him a few grams in weight? Bike Review: 2014 Raleigh Talus 29er

I have only ever tested a handful of 29ers. I generally found them to be more stable, aggressive on technical downhills with laid out geometry that felt race focused. While that sense of balance and control left a positive impression, I have never been able to afford such a beast. However, I will get to race one.
