Each year the Unsigned Only Music Awards give recognition to independent artists worldwide. This competition aims to showcase the best new talent in multiple categories. For 2026 they have added an AI Artist category for those who are using the new technology to create unique music in all genres. The 2026 Semi-Finalists have been announced and it includes Punta Gorda, Florida based lyricist Alex Hutchinson for his song I Want To Be A Trans Am . This song was inspired by his sister who went through the difficult transition process from man to woman. Alex wanted to write a song that captured his sister's frustration with being targeted because of her personal journey. It's about someone who,  "Wanted to look on the outside how she felt within." Alex Hutchinson only started writing music in March 2026 but has already published 36 Songs reaching three thousand listeners in 39 countries. This is the first music contest that he has entered.
