Imagine a traveling band that performs emo/punk covers in front of live audiences but for every individual song the lead singer is a fan from the crowd. This phenomena is called Emo Night Karaoke and it takes place all across America.
My girlfriend introduced me to these shows and they are phenomenal. She has climbed up on stage several times in different states and wailed to the masses. The audience knows the words to every song and quite often they support the singer by following along.
My Goth Goddess is the story of how she prepares for these shows. It mostly involves picking a song and practicing until it feels solid. The battle of nerves and anticipation ebbs and flows. The rest is all guts and glory. The video below is her performance at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida.
She is doing what I could never dream of, being a star on the stage. I'm so proud of her every time that I needed to express it in my lyrics. This song is for her but also for anyone who dares to climb those steps and give it their all.
