I've never considered myself good at pool but I've always enjoyed playing and I love competition. When Middleboro's premiere entertainment venue Last Call at Hatchet in Hand added pool tables it was clear this place was going to boom. In addition to their Thursday night Axe Throwing League, they now had an entirely different group of players showing up to play 8 ball.
The crowd varies in size and skill level. I have been there on nights with as few as 6 players and more than 20. If you are looking for highly competitive battles and a bigger pot be sure to come on the 1st Wednesday of the month. That is when the entry price moves up to $25. with $20 going towards the winners. More money means better players for the bigger prize.
I was happy to spend my Wednesday nights here for the past dozen tournaments and I even managed to land in 3rd place, 3 times. My short two year stint in Massachusetts was full of challenges and hardships. Last Call gave me a place to escape from the constant grind of daily work and life away from my home state. I'm thrilled to be moving back to Florida but I will miss this place and all the people I have met here.
There is more positive news: Last Call at Hatchet in Hand is expanding. They are nearing the end of some very exciting construction. I won't be around to see it but it's not too late for you. Check out the updates on their Facebook page.
