* In the movie Prime Directive most of the guns were plastic toys. However, the lone revolver was real. On screen this weapon was stolen back and forth by Gene Lloyd & Alex Hutchinson. Both actors pretended to load and/or unload it despite having no bullets.

* In the book Virgin Gloves the main character Ash Hatcher worked as a publicist for heavyweight boxer Chad Dragyn. In real life author Alex Hutchinson worked as a publicist for heavyweight boxer China "The Dragon" Smith. All of the boxing matches described in the book actually happened, only the names were changed.

* In the book Backyard Empire, the main character Carnage was inspired by real life professional wrestler Jason Sanders. Coincidentally the book was published on Jason's birthday.

* In the movie Guardian Angel, the evil demon known as Solid Six played by actor Alex Hutchinson is pushed off a cliff at the end of the film. He falls thirty feet into the sand below. You can hear Alex scream in mid flight.

* In the book Twisted Trails, an elderly group of mountain bikers uses a fountain of youth to shred their local trails with astonishing agility. This tale was inspired by real life cyclists whose average age was 70 years old. The group included former Dirt Rag writer Bill Boles.

* In the book Sevlow, Dutch and his friends find a dead body near a construction site. This scene actually happened in real life. The mangled body was seen by Alex Hutchinson, John Matthews and Mark Silvestri. The three friends had nightmares for weeks.
